Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as Professional Nurse. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse. Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work shifts including weekends, public holidays and night duty. Willingness to rotate to other departments. Ability to lift and turn patients, stand for long hours and lift heavy equipment. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of Nursing Practices. Knowledge of Infection Prevention Control, control measures and practices. Problem solving, report writing, liaison and facilitation skills. Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and use of Internet. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan (clinical practice or quality patient care). Implement standards, practices, criteria and indicators for quality nursing (quality of practice). Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care. Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders. Utilise human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
