How to write your CV to complement the Z83 form
In the private sector, "creative" CVs are popular. In the South African public sector, compliance and clarity win. Your CV shouldn't just repeat the Z83; it should provide the evidence for it.
Align the Chronology
Ensure the dates in your CV exactly match the dates on your Z83. Discrepancies in "Years of Experience" can lead to immediate disqualification during the HR screening phase.
Use the "PersWay" Method
For every role, don't just list duties. List Key Performance Areas (KPAs). Use terms found in the job advertisement (e.g., "Supply Chain Management" or "Batho Pele Principles") as your headings.
The "References" Sync
Ensure the contact details for supervisors on your CV are identical to those on the Z83. If a recruiter can't reach your reference, your application often stalls.
Skill Matrices
Include a technical skills section that specifically mentions government-related software (like PERSAL or BAS) or specific legislative knowledge (like the PFMA or PAJA).
